The Election Commission will install a new software, TREND, to keep a tab on the voter turnout and counting trends on the polling day on Monday and the counting day on Thursday.
The software was developed by the National Informatics Centre. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. will provide connectivity for the 80-odd collection and counting centres across the State.
The voter turnout and counting trends will be monitored by a team consisting of an administrative officer from the Revenue Department, DIO, ADIO, Keltron programmer, BSNL, KSEB/PWD electrical departments. The District Information Officer will be the technical coordinator. Electoral officers have taken stock of the connectivity requirements.
Commission sources said each counting centre would require a broadband connection, computer system with updated software and LAN (local area network). Each counting centre would require a primary connectivity of 2 MBPS-managed leased line connection from the counting centre to the KSWAN (Kerala State Wide Area Network) district NOC or a 2 MBPS VPNoBB connection to SDC2, for which the BSNL will take the call.
The secondary connectivity includes 2MBPS broadband connectivity with fixed IP from the BSNL, two computers, laser printer, and LAN, Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) units and generator. The computer and data entry operators have already undergone training for this work.
