DYFI protest against Railways move on tickets

February 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) State secretariat has protested against the Railways move to reduce the time span of short-distance tickets to three hours from March 1.

The secretariat said in a statement here on Saturday that tickets up to 199 km have a day’s validity.

The latest decision would cause a lot of inconvenience to commuters and hence should be repealed, the statement said.

The DYFI would stage a dharna in front of major railway stations on February 8 to press for its demand, the statement said.
