Drive against drug abuse

NCC cadets of the Thiruvananthapuram group organised various activities from June 26 to 28 at different locations in connection with International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observed on Sunday.

Rallies were organised by cadets at various institutions in Thiruvananthapuram, Varkala, and Neyyattinkara with banners and slogans to spread awareness among students and locals on the need to eradicate drug abuse and rehabilitate drug addicts.

A seminar was held at Iqbal College, Peringamala, on the subject. As many as 200 cadets, along with other students, participated.

This was followed by the screening of a documentary film on drug abuse ‘Durantha Lahari' for students.

Officials of the Nedumangad and Vamanapuram Excise Range delivered talks on drug abuse.

Pledge against drugs

About 500 girl cadets attending an annual training camp at Christian College, Kattakada, took a pledge against drug abuse.

A drawing competition was also organised at the camp to mark the event.
