The slabs of the drains leading to the Amayizhanjan Thodu in Thampanoor will be replaced to ease the flow of waste water and reduce the flooding in the area, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said. The Kerala State Urban Development Project (KSUDP) will make available funds for this purpose. Mr. Sivakumar was speaking at a meeting with officials from the departments concerned to discuss the issue on Saturday.

Instead of the seven gratings currently placed inside the drain from Overbridge to Manjalikkulam, 21 gratings will be provided.

The drains being built by the Kerala Road Fund Board will be completed as per schedule. In the meeting, the Railway officials agreed to give permission for KSUDP to construct drains in land owned by the Railways.

An emergency meeting will be called to discuss the issue of parking buses and autorickshaws in roads constructed by the Road Fund Board.

The re-tendering for the Thampanoor-Vanchiyoor diversion drain will be done immediately.

The work on the additional drain and raising of the road at S.S. Kovil road will be taken up after a meeting with the PWD, to be held after the monsoon. The Railway Divisional Manager informed that a project to divert the water collected at the tracks during the rains to Killi River by constructing a side drain is being formulated.
