What differentiates the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) from film festivals elsewhere is the prominent role that delegates play here in making it a success, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor has said.

“Delegates are the real jury of this festival,” Mr. Tharoor said while inaugurating the Delegates’ Cell of the 18 International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) here on Sunday.

First delegate kit

The Union Minister handed over the first delegate pass to actor Anoop Menon at the function. Chalachitra Academy vice-chairman Gandhimathi Balan presided. Actor Menaka Suresh received the first delegate kit from P.C. Vishnunath, MLA.

P.S. Sreekumar, chairman, Delegate Cell, welcomed the gathering, and S. Rajendran Nair, secretary, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, proposed a vote of thanks. Beena Paul Venugopal, artistic director, IFFK, and Ranjit Thomas, chief manager (PR), State Bank of Travancore (SBT), also attended the function.

The Delegate Cell would function at the Tagore Theatre premises from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. up to December 8. Delegates can collect the festival kit — a jute bag with the IFFK logo, a detailed handbook and festival T-shirt..
