The District Development Committee has cautioned the public against purchasing land without making adequate enquiries and getting entangled in legal issues.

Convening a meeting of the committee on Saturday, Additional District Magistrate V.R. Vinod, who handles the responsibilities of District Collector, said many people faced revenue-related issues in recent times after purchasing land at comparatively low prices in various parts of the district.

“They are forced to frequent village offices and the Collectorate to resolve issues. Many complaints are also being received in this regard. The public have been advised to consult the village or taluk offices and to verify documents prior to finalising land deals,” he said.

D.K. Murali, MLA, raised the issue of widespread crop loss in the Vamanapuram constituency owing to incursions by wild animals into plantations. The legislator appreciated the police for removing the vehicles that had been parked on the MC Road in front of the Venjaramoodu police station for long. He added that saplings would be planted by the banks of the Killi river on June 5, World Environment Day.

Officials said at the meeting that the construction of the a new village office building at Koduvazhannoor in the Attingal constituency would soon be launched.
