Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that the Guru Gopinath National Dance Museum which is set to come up soon will be of international standards, and will become a centre for all information related to dance.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Natyotsavam at Guru Gopinath Natanagramam, an institution under the Department of Cultural Affairs, at Vattiyurkavu on Saturday.

Mr. Chandy said money was not as issue for developmental activities that were useful to the public. The only requirement was clear-cut strategy and a sincere approach.

Permanent venue

Culture Minister K.C. Joseph, who delivered the keynote address, said a permanent venue for dance performances would be set up at the museum.

Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor said he would try to bring in more funds from the Centre for the museum. The popularity of the museum would help take Guru Gopinath’s achievements to a wider audience.

The function was followed by a Kerala Nadanam performance by the Guru Gopinath Natanagramam team and a Bharatanatyam performance by Dakshina Vaidyanathan.
