The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) will soon introduce a licensing system for sale and distribution of speed governors to prevent tampering of the gadgets.

Accordingly, centres manned by qualified technicians will be opened in all districts for after-sales service of speed governors. Also, bank guarantee will be made mandatory for suppliers of speed governors to ensure proper service. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of manufacturers of speed governors, convened by Transport and Road Safety Commissioner Tomin J. Thachankary on Thursday. Representatives of as many as 10 companies in Delhi, Haryana and Karnataka entrusted with the manufacture and distribution of the gadgets in Kerala attended the meeting.
