Large crowds at the Collectorate at Kudapanakkunnu in the past one week have forced the district administration to clarify that applications for aid from the Janasanthwana fund of the Chief Minister can be made any time.
The clarification by District Collector S. Venkatesapathy comes in the wake of hundreds of people from different parts of the district thronging the Collectorate to submit the applications following propaganda that up to ₹10,000 will be allowed immediately to the applicants. The presence of such a large number of people, some braving the heat despite their advanced years, has been been leading to traffic blocks at Kudapanakkunnu.
The applications, on white paper, can be submitted at taluk offices too, the Collector said.
The fund aims at improving, with the cooperation of the public, the conditions of those who have been marginalised owing to various reasons.
A maximum amount of ₹3.5 lakh will be allowed for construction, maintenance, and renovation of homes, ₹2 lakh for rehabilitation of the elderly and those living on ‘puramboke land,’ and ₹1 lakh for those who find it difficult to survive owing to financial difficulties. A maximum of ₹10,000 will be given as other relief.
The project targets improvement of basic facilities in health and education sectors, revamping public institutions, job training to families where the head of the family has died or is bedridden, and rehabilitation of the destitute, widows, elderly, and the seriously ill.
Individuals, voluntary organisations, and individuals will be provided aid. Funds will be collected with the cooperation of the public, voluntary organisations, and individual donors.
Along with the applications, copies of the beneficiaries’ ration cards, Aadhaar card, bank passbook should be included.
