Recent violence at Vadakara court complex

The statements by Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary Pannian Ravindran that Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] workers unleashed violence at the Vadakara court complex recently are false and unfounded, CPI(M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

Mr. Ravindran should reveal how he got the idea and the sources of this information, Mr, Vijayan said while addressing a party function here on Monday.

“Of late, some leaders are taking the CPI(M) as a soft target to unleash attacks and malign the party in the backdrop of the death of Revolutionary Marxist Party leader T.P. Chandrasekharan,” he said.

The party would mobilise public opinion against such attempts. The CPI(M) had never obstructed the functioning of judicial bodies, Mr. Vijayan said adding that there was nothing unnatural in a crowd gathering in front of a court when a popular leader was produced there, he said.

In fact, RMP workers had gathered on the court premises to unleash attack on the CPI(M) workers, he said.

The CPI(M) adopted a stance, in the wake of recurring attacks on the party’s leadership, was taken in tune with prevailing political situation. It should not be construed that the CPI was right and the CPI(M) was wrong, he said.

Addressing another party function at Kundamkuzhi in the district, Mr. Vijayan sad the party had the inner strength to face such attacks. No one should be under the notion that the CPI(M) could be cowed down by framing false charges and foisting cases on its leaders, he said.

Party leaders K.P. Satheesh Chandran and P. Raghavan attended.
