Corporation - green protocol

The city Corporation is all set to more strictly enforce the green protocol along with the ban on plastic carrybags. Notices will be issued to wedding halls, auditoriums and catering units as part of this, asking them not to use disposable papers and cups made using thermocol, plastic, plastic-coated paper, multilayer plastic and tetrapack for the packing of food products. Instead, they will have to use steel, ceramic or glass materials.

The green protocol will be implemented in canteens in Government and private institutions to prevent the use of such disposable material for the distribution of food. The plastic waste from such institutions have been a headache for the city Corporation. As part of implementing the green protocol, the health wing will conduct inspections in canteens, hotels and wedding halls in the coming days.

Following the lead of the residential associations in keeping out plastic carrybags, the Autorickshaw Workers’ Union has decided not to allow passengers carrying plastic carrybags to travel in their vehicles from March 15.
