The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) should continue its proactive role in policy making, advocacy, and implementation, especially in the context of the emphasis on food security and strangulation in the farm sector productivity, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Shashi Tharoor has said.

Speaking at the 32nd Foundation Day of the NABARD at the Kerala regional office here on Friday, Mr. Tharoor said NABARD had adequately demonstrated that there were possibilities of development even in the most challenging developing ecosystem.

The Union Minister said the success of NABARD was in building effective partnerships and networking with all the agencies which were into the business of development. The NABARD should continue to experiment with innovative models of project implementation or credit delivery.

Mr. Tharoor hailed the farmers clubs and bankers who had supported the farmers clubs for winning the awards for their performance.

A video film on the activities of NABARD in Kerala was also released at the function by the Union Minister.
