Colourful start to Metroplus Pookkalam Contest

The third edition of The Hindu Metroplus pookalam contest got off to a colourful start at the Government Women's College auditorium here on Saturday.

As many as 52 teams comprising 260 participants are taking part in the event inaugurated by K.M. Purushottaman, Regional Head and DGM Union Bank of India, Thiruvananthapuram.

Corporate houses including companies from Technopark, educational institutions, residents' associations and voluntary organisations are participating in the pookalam competition.

A two-member jury comprising Fine Arts College principal Ajayakumar and art director S. Rajendran will judge the pookalams at the end of the contest. Award-winning film actor Priyanka Nair will give away prizes to the winners.
