The assurance made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that the government will reconsider the contributory pension scheme for government employees elicited warm response at a State-level workshop organised by the Kerala NGO Union on Saturday.

While the delegates sat in rapt attention for most of Mr. Vijayan’s address, the announcements that were made during the final few minutes of his speech lifted their spirits.

Relook necessary

“The LDF government has arrived at a consensus that a relook into the pension scheme is necessary. We also oppose the recommendation made by the Tenth Pay Commission that called for wage revision for government employees once in 10 years,” Mr. Vijayan said.
