The government aims at cultivating impartiality within the police force while dealing with cases, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

Speaking at the passing-out parade of civil police officers at the Special Armed Police (SAP) camp at Peroorkada on Thursday, Mr. Vijayan said that efforts were on to resolve issues relating to the service conditions of police personnel so that they are content and primed to tackle any situation.

He said that insistence on high educational qualification and good working environment had resulted in professional excellence and a marked improvement in the manner by which the police treated the public.

However, complaints were still being raised, albeit sporadically. An atmosphere should be created that would embolden all sections, including women and the marginalised, to approach police stations with their problems.

Mr. Vijayan stressed the need for police personnel to maintain high fitness levels throughout their service period.

The requirement was not being given its due, and this had a negative effect on the productivity of the force. He spoke about the importance of progressing with times and incorporating technological advancements in the force.

555 recruits

A total of 555 recruits of the Special Armed Police (SAP) and Kerala Armed Police (KAP) 3{+r}{+d}Battalion, Adoor, took part in the ceremony.
