Cleanliness drive from June 13

The General Administration Department has passed orders mandating the organisation for cleanliness drives for two weeks starting June 13 at all government offices and buildings, and public sector undertakings and autonomous institutions, as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Pledge

A press note issued here on Thursday said a cleanliness pledge would be taken at 9.45 a.m. on June 13. Government offices should, as part of implementing waste management measures, institute waste recycling mechanisms, the GAD’s order quotes a letter from the secretary, Ministry of Urban Development as saying.

The Secretary’s letter also mandates that all government offices, premises and the rooftops be cleaned and all waste material in the office premises removed.
