Civil servants should be compassionate to people: CM

24 students who cleared Civil Services felicitated

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said officials should always be compassionate to the needs of the public.

Addressing a function to felicitate 24 students of the Kerala State Civil Services Academy here who cleared the Civil Services examination, he said civil servants dealt with a multitude of issues faced by the public. They should be sympathetic to the grievances raised by the public. They should treat both privileged and underprivileged classes equally. The civil servants should adopt an uncompromising stand towards wrong practices, he said.

The Chief Minister promised all assistance for the academy. He congratulated the students who cleared the examination.

People with character

Education Minister C. Raveendranath said the job of bureaucracy was to bring up people with character. The education sector would be modernised so that the State would become a role model in the country. Director General of Police Lokanath Behera, and former bureaucrats D. Babu Paul and Alexander Jacob attended the function.
