Children's films from State win accolades at national festival

Birds and Their Homes - a film produced by the State Institute of Educational Technology (SIET) and directed by Suresh Elamon has bagged the best film award at the 15th All India Children's Film Festival held at New Delhi recently.

The award carries a cash prize of Rs.40,000, a statuette and a citation.

According to information made available by the SIET, films from Kerala won five awards at the festival. Director of the SIET Babu Sebastian received the awards from the National Institute of Educational Technology (NIET) director G. Ravindra.

S.G. Anup, who edited Birds and Their Homes , won the award for the best film editing for the year 2009.

In the category of films made by children, Losers' Final made by the students of Government HSS Kuttoor was adjudged the best. This movie's director Rajiv K. Raphael was adjudged the best child director.

The award for the best research film was bagged by Nercha on Nerkazhcha produced by the GVHSS Kondotti.
