That an imaginative mind can scale over all obstacles to produce stuff that would amaze the onlooker is almost a dictum. The Thiruvananthapuram revenue district school science fair and work experience fair held at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Pattom, proved that dictum once again with students from various schools in the district coming up with interesting ideas translated into models of plasma gas tubes to hyperloops and reconfigured biogas plants to space shuttles.

Akhil Chandran and Indraja S.K. from VPN HSS presented an elevated bus which will be a blessing for the Indian roads in future, that it is pollution-free and safe.

“It can reduce our accident rates considerably,” they said, pointing out that an elevated bus, which is operated with the help of solar energy, was an idea China had successfully realised.

“We can also do it in our transport system easily,” they said. Different chemical charts, waste management initiatives, ideas that could add much to the public health-care initiatives besides several charts presenting the history of science, inventions and revolutionary discoveries added to the charm of the fair, which attracted a large number of parents and students to the school. Neyyattinkara sub-district came first in the work experience fair and the science fair. In the work experience fair, the second prize was won by Thiruvananthapuram South and in the science fair, the second prize went to Attingal sub-district.
