Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has congratulated Shaji N. Karun whose film Kutty Srank won the national award for the best feature film.
He said here on Thursday that Mr. Shaji had succeeded in upholding the pride of Malayalam cinema in the Indian film world. He also congratulated those behind Kutty Srank and Pazhassi Raja, which was adjudged the best Malayalam film, and other award winners.
They included Hariharan, director of Pazhassi Raja , Anjali Shukla, P.F. Mathews, Harikrishnan, Jayakumar, Ilaya Raja, Resul Pookutty, Padma Priya, Sivan (the director of the best children's film Kesu ), child artiste Asna Aslam and C.S. Venkiteswaran, who won the award for film critic. He expressed the hope that the recognition which Malayalam cinema received at the national level would encourage the production of good films.
