Chennithala seeks action against panchayat chief

Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennitala on Thrusday demanded strong action against the Kadakkal panchayat president who allegedly insulted Kerala Mahila Congress State unit president Bindu Krishna when she visited the victim of the Kadakkal case in hospital.

In a statement here, Mr. Chennithala said Mrs. Krishna had to face the ignominy at the hands of the panchayat president who belonged to the CPI(M). She had visited the office to get first hand information about the incident.

In another statement, Mr. Chennithala said he had written to the Union Railway Minister to take steps to solve the problem of frequent train derailment in the State.

Written in the backdrop of the recent derailment that took place at Karunagapally, Mr. Chennithala said the State had witnessed four such incidents during the last month alone.
