The Gandhi Peace Bus expedition will help the youth imbibe Gandhian philosophy and rediscover the Gandhi in oneself, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was inaugurating a function at Gandhi Park in Thiruvananthapuram in honour of the expedition which reached the city on Monday. Serious efforts should be taken to engage the youth in Gandhian philosophy and help them understand the essence of peace and non-violence.

Minister for Culture K.C. Joseph, Mayor K. Chandrika, and Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi working chairman N. Radhakrishnan were present.

The Gandhi Peace Bus is a joint initiative of the Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi, the Gandhi Peace Foundation, the Information and Public Relations Department, and the Kerala State Youth Welfare Board. The bus, carrying around 30 youths from various South Indian States, aimed at creating awareness on the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi by retracing his journeys in South India. The 16-day expedition will conclude in Mangalore on July 2.
