The team from College of Engineering, Trivandrum (CET), has won the e-Yantra robotics competition organised by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, by making a robot which cleans rooms.
The all-India contest was lauched in July 2012 to make robotics accessible to undergraduate students from engineering colleges, especially those who do not have access to facilities and/or mentors. The contest is an MHRD-sponsored project under the National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT).
CET beat 20 teams, including those from top institutions, to win the contest under the room-cleaner robots theme.
The contest was held on the IIT Bombay campus recently. The CET team comprised Kiran Rajmohan and Venkiteswaran Raj.

Contests were held in four themes including pothole filler, room cleaner, pick-and-placer, and line follower. The winning team from each theme was offered the summer internship at IIT Bombay. In addition to certificates, the first, second and third place teams will also receive cash prizes.
