Kerala Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan on Saturday inaugurated the centenary observance of the exile of K. Ramakrishna Pillai, editor of ’Swadeshabhimani’ from the erstwhile Travancore kingdom.
Mr. Achutanandan said Pillai was a real patriot who battled anarchy and corruption under the King and the Diwan’s administration.
The year-long programmes were jointly organised by the department of Information and Public Relations and the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ).
As part of the programme, the bust of Pillai was reinstalled at ‘Swadeshabhimani’ square at Palayam in the city.
Pillai’s works ‘Ente Nadukadathal’ (My Exile) and a collection of his editorials were released at the function.
