Case against forest guides

July 21, 2010 09:00 pm | Updated 09:00 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Two tourist guides attached to a Vana Samrakshana Samithi (VSS) in the Achenkoil forest range in Kollam district are in police custody following the charge of molesting an unidentified woman, Forest Minister Benoy Viswom told the Assembly on Tuesday.

Answering a submission from V.D. Satheeshan, he said three persons were involved in the case. One of them was yet to be taken into custody.

They had taken a video clipping of the incident on a mobile phone camera and circulated it. The incident had occurred some time back but came to light when the video clipping was flashed by a Malayalam news portal.

The Minister said the victim, who had apparently come to Achenkoil on picnic, was from Tamil Nadu and efforts were on with the assistance of the police of that State to locate her.
