The city Corporation has decided to implement the State government’s Waste-free Kerala campaign by merging it with its My City, Beautiful City waste management programme.

As part of this, a meeting of the ward-level sanitation committees will be called before July 30.

A meeting held at the Corporation also decided to conduct data collection from houses on the amount of waste generated and the type of disposal followed, through surveys from August 8 to 13. For this, a two-member team consisting of a Kudumbashree member and a volunteer will be deployed for 50 houses each.

Training

The training programme for the survey teams will be held from August 4 to 7. The resource persons for this training programme will be found from among the Corporation workers and existing volunteers.

At the ward-level, various awareness programmes, including roadshow, corner meetings, and poster exhibitions are being planned. On August 15, Ministers, MLAs, and other people’s representatives will conduct house visits to take the message of the waste-free Kerala campaign to everyone.
