An eight-day summer camp organised by the alumni of Government Boys’ Model Higher Secondary School here came to a close on Sunday with an exhibition showcasing the talents of the children in clay modelling and origami and revealing the presence of 32 species of trees on the school campus.
The children, drawn from various high school and higher secondary classes, had a busy time on the concluding day, going around the campus with Tree Walk volunteers, who helped them identify the different tree species and line up their exhibits.
Awareness
Tree Walk conducted various activities to create awareness among the children of their surroundings.
These included the students trying to guess the location of a tree within the campus from the picture shown to them and the difference in temperature in open areas and the areas under a tree. Towards the end, they were shown a documentary delineating the relationship between a child and a peepul tree.
The exhibition put up by the students featured pictures of 32 different species of trees found by the members of Tree Walk within the school campus.
The summer camp was packed with action. There were workshops on music, applied arts, theatre, personality development, applied science, and media awareness.
The children received participation certificates.
