Bus bay to be inaugurated

April 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

The new bus bay, built by the Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority (TRIDA) at the Medical College junction, will be inaugurated on Wednesday.

The bus bay, built at a cost of Rs.1.25 crore, has a platform from which eight buses can simultaneously take in passengers. The temporary office of the station master located at the Medical College junction will be shifted to the new bay.

With the opening of the bus bay, some reduction in traffic snarls at the junction is expected as parking of buses on the road for alighting and boarding of passengers can be avoided, says a press release issued by TRIDA. The taxi stand at the junction will be shifted to the TRIDA centre and to the land near the TRIDA’s shopping complex. The locations for autorickshaw stand and parking for private vehicles are yet to be decided.

Urban Affairs Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali will inaugurate the bus bay at 5 p.m.
