Bodies cremated

The bodies of six construction workers, who died in a road accident involving two pick-up trucks in Oman last Sunday, were cremated on the premises of their respective homes in different parts of the district.

The bodies of Balakrishna Pillai Prasad, 34, of Arayil Puthenveedu, Vellaikadavu; Johnson Gomas, 43, of Toll Junction; Vishnu, 41, of Achathu Veedu, Plaviramoola; Anil Kumar, 35, of Dwaraka, Plaviramoola; and Saju Kumar of Krishna Vilasam, Kallara, were flown to the city on three different airplanes.

All the bodies arrived at the airport here by 10.45 p.m. The cremations took place in the presence of large crowds.

State government officials placed wreaths on the coffins at the airport here. The body of Tamil Nadu resident Dasan was taken to his hometown in Karinkal near Nagercoil.
