The probe team investigating the death of a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha leader in Attingal has obtained leads indicating that it may be a case of suicide.
Though the police have not ruled out the possibility of murder, they are yet to receive evidence in this direction. Yuva Morcha Palakkad district secretary Sajin Raj, 31, was found with severe burns near a car adjacent to the Mamam bridge early on Thursday.
CCTV visuals
He later died at the Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. The body was cremated at his home town Ottapalam on Friday.
According to the police, the chances of foul play in the incident were low. After examining CCTV visuals from various spots, the police have arrived at the conclusion that Sajin travelled alone in the car.
The probe is progressing on the basis of findings from a letter found in the car that Sajin took on rent from a Thiruvallam native three months ago.
Woman quizzed
The investigating team also questioned a woman, who was purportedly named in the letter.
A visiting card of a tour and travel company in Ottapalam had also been recovered from the car.
There were claims that he had been ‘cheated’ in financial dealings. A team is at Ottapalam to collect evidence regarding various allegations in this regard.
