Biju hands over voice recordings

January 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - Thiruvananthapuram:

Kerala Bar Hotels Association (KBHA) working president Biju Ramesh has handed over to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) what he claimed is ‘‘authentic audio evidence that can be pivotal in fixing legal liability’’ in the bar licence renewal bribery case.

His move has stoked much political intrigue in the State since Finance Minister K.M. Mani is the sole suspect in the case.

Mr. Biju arrived at the Vigilance office at 2.30 p.m. on Wednesday with digital devices ostensibly containing less than three hours of secretly recorded meetings and telephonic conversations between the KBHA office-bearers. TV channels had, over the past two days, broadcast less than 45 minutes of the “audio evidence” in their news bulletins.
