Bench stir enters 900 days today

An agitation headed by lawyers demanding a High Court Bench in the State capital will complete 900 days on Tuesday.

A dharna will be staged in this connection in front of the entrance of the court complex at Vanchiyoor.

Lawyers, advocates clerks and the public, led by Konchira G. Neelakantan Nair, president of the Bar association and chairman of the action council, will participate in the dharna.

A press release said G. Karthikeyan, V. Sivankutty, Mangode Radhakrishnan, George Mercier and M.A. Vahid, MLAs; V.S. Sivakumar, president of the District Congress Committee; and Kadakampally Surendran, district secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist); would participate in the dharna.

The release said the agitation would continue till the Bench was sanctioned.

The action council had appealed to people to support the cause.
