Beautification of lighthouse to be launched

September 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Beautification of the Vizhinjam lighthouse, near Kovalam, will begin soon under a project to develop important lighthouses in the country as tourist spots.

The project announced during the visit of the then Union Minister of State for Shipping Milind Deora in December, 2013 had failed to take off.

The lighthouse beautification project had come to a standstill due to administrative reasons.

Shashi Tharoor, MP, took up the issue with Captain A.M. Surej, Director General of Lighthouse & Lightships (DGLL).
