July 13, 2013 02:01 pm | Updated 02:01 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Elaborate arrangements will be made for Karkidaka Vavu in all temples under the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), Minister for Devaswom V.S. Sivakumar has said.

The Minister told a high-level meeting here on Friday that sufficient arrangements would be made at the Thiruvallam, Varkala, Shanghumughom, and Aluva temples. The government would ensure the coordination of the police, Kerala State Electricity Board, Kerala Water Authority, Kerala State Road Transport Corporation, Fire and Rescue Services, Health Department, Tourism Department, and local self-government institutions.

The TDB would appoint a special officer in each temple to oversee the arrangements.

Counters for issuing tickets for offering bali, cleaning of the temple premises, and steps for providing drinking water would be initiated. Special arrangements would be made on 1.10 acres of land near the Thiruvallam temple for offering bali. The priests for conducting the rituals at Papanasam in Varkala would be selected on the basis of an interview.

Devaswom Secretary K.R. Jyothilal, TDB Commissioner P. Venugopal, and officers of other departments attended the meeting.
