Balan slams committee report ‘leak'

March 04, 2012 01:07 pm | Updated 01:07 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Communist Party of India(Marxist) [CPI(M)] parliamentary secretary A.K. Balan has taken strong exception to the ‘leak' of the V.D. Satheesan Committee's conclusions regarding the allegations against V.A. Arun Kumar, son of Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan.

In a letter to Speaker G. Karthikeyan, released for publication here on Saturday, Mr. Balan demanded immediate dissolution of the Satheesan panel as the conclusions were ‘leaked' to the media with political motives in view of the Piravom byelection.

The Speaker should take serious note of the matter and disallow submission of the report in the Assembly, he said.

Mr. Balan said that under House rules, all procedures of the committee should be kept a secret and the conclusions arrived by it were not supposed to be made public either directly or indirectly till the report was submitted to the House.
