The Athirappilly power project should be implemented, Power Minister M.M. Mani has said.

Scuttling development projects raising lame reasons would be a crime against future generations, he said while inaugurating the construction of the Kaaduvetti micro hydel project at Sasthamangalam here on Wednesday.

Power supply regulation and power cuts would be avoided at any cost even if the government had to buy power from outside, Mr. Mani said.

The Kaaduvetti project is being implemented by the Energy Management Centre (EMC) under the Department of Power. Power generation will take place by creating an artificial whirlpool. The production capacity of the project is 20 KW. Power will be supplied to Thiruvananthapuram Corporation.
