Kilimanoor, Thiruvananthapuram North, and Thiruvananthapuram South sub-districts were crowned the over-all champions in the upper primary (UP), high school, and higher secondary sections, respectively, at the Revenue District School Arts Festival that concluded here on Friday.
Kilimanoor retained the lead on the fourth and final day to take the overall championship in the UP section with 131 points. Kattakkada took the second position with 122 points. In the high school section, the Thiruvananthapuram North sub-district came first with 272 points and Attingal came second with 262 points.
In the higher secondary section, Thiruvananthapuram South took the lead and claimed the overall championship with 330 points, and Thiruvananthapuram North came second with 320 points.
Schools segment
St. Theresa's Convent Girls Higher Secondary School, Neyyanttinkara, bagged the trophy for the school which scored the highest points in the UP section.
In the high school section, the trophy was bagged by KTCT English Higher Secondary School, Kaduvayil, and Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School, Vazhuthacaud.
Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School, Vazhuthacaud, also scored the highest points in the higher secondary section.
Sanskrit section
In the Sanskrit section (UP), the Palode sub-district won the championship with 84 points. Thiruvananthapuram South with 78 points took the second position.
In the high school section, the Kattakada sub-district (79 points) won the championship trophy, and the second place went to Thiruvananthapuram South (70 points).
Jayamatha Upper Primary School, Manoor, scored the highest points in the UP section, and New Higher Secondary School, Nellimoodu, won the prize in the high school section.
Arabic event
In the Arabic section, Kaniyapuram won the first position with 61 points, and Thiruvananthapuram South took second position with 57 points in the UP section. In the high school section, Nedumangad with 87 points bagged the first place, and Palode with 79 points took the second spot. The school with the highest score was Government Upper Primary School, Ambalathara (UP section), and Al-uthuman Higher Secondary School, Kazhakuttam (high school section).
As many as 5,540 students from more than 450 schools under the 12 sub-districts participated in the event.
Appeals
The authorities said 205 appeals had been registered at the festival. These would be considered by an expert committee next week. Appeals in each category would be considered separately. The most number of appeals had been registered in the dance events, followed by mono act and recitation, a press release issued by the organisers here said.
