He was speaking at the inaugural function of the 17th Trivandrum International Film Festival (TIFF) at the University Students’ Centre here on Friday.

The festival is being organised by the Chalachithra Film Society, in association with the Kerala University Union.

“I honestly believe that no other medium of art can evoke the kind of passion and emotions that a cinema can in people’s minds. Cinema is a glory of human mind, and film festivals are the venues where the emotions of those involved in the field get reflected,” Mr. Karun said.

Chalachithra Film Society president G. Rajamohan said that without the support of the people and their love for films, the film society would not have been able to continue its journey since its inception 36 years ago.

The function was attended by Zhang Zhihong, Counselor, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, New Delhi.
