Piling work preparatory to the construction of the Melepazhavangadi flyover near Power House Road on Saturday caused a drinking water pipeline in the area to burst, disrupting water supply to many parts of the city.
The supply of drinking water to Thakarapparambu, Palkulangara, Sreevarahom, Sreekanteswaram, Kaithamukku, Pettah, Valiathura, Manacaud, Kuriathi, Fort, East Fort, Valiasala, Chala, Thampanoor, Iranimuttom, and Kalippankulam was disrupted since Saturday morning when the 375-mm cast-iron pipe laid as part of the Wellingdon Water Works scheme burst.
