Steps will be taken to strengthen the mechanism to check unauthorised constructions in the State, Urban Affairs Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali said here on Tuesday.
In a statement issued here, Mr. Ali said Monday's building collapse at Chozhattukottai in the city, which led to the death of a construction worker, pointed to the need to strengthen the Vigilance system under the Local Self-government Department.
The Minister said he had directed the Senior Town Planner (Vigilance) to conduct an inquiry into the incident and submit a report in two days.
