Two newborns have been welcomed at the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare in recent days.
The children were found in the Ammathottil of the council in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam.
A two-day-old boy was found in the Ammathottil in the city on Tuesday evening. A day before, a two-day-old girl was found in the cradle at Kollam. The children were named Ayush and Ishika.
Set up in 2002
They are the 153rd and 154th children to have been received in the Ammathottils since these were set up on November 14, 2002.
After the new governing body came to power in the council on December 30 last, it has received four children through the Ammathottils and eight through the Child Welfare Committees.
As many as 11 children have been adopted in this period, with two of them heading to New Zealand and one to the U.S.
72 in district
There are 72 children in the Thiruvananthapuram adoption centre and 15 in the Malappuram foundling home.
As procedures for adoption of Ishika and Ayush are to be launched, anyone laying claim to the children should approach the council with relevant documents at the earliest, council general secretary Deepak S.P. said in a statement issued here on Thursday.
