Mayor K.Chandrika on Saturday termed ‘baseless’’ Minister for Urban Affairs Manjalamkuzhi Ali’s allegation in the Assembly that the government had found irregularity in the permit given by the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation for the construction of a shopping mall and apartment building at Pattoor by the real estate company Artech Realtors.

‘Charges motivated’

She said the actual responsibility for this lay with the Chief Town Planner (CTP). Such allegations were levelled against the civic body to hide the serious failings on the part of the Revenue Department and Urban Affairs Department and to save the real culprits, she said.

“The Minister should withdraw his remarks.

“As per clauses 53 and 56 of the Kerala Municipal Building Rules 1999, sanction for buildings having more than 100 housing units and commercial buildings over 6,000 sq ft, can be given only with the CTP’s permission.

“Action should be taken against the Chief Town Planner,” she said.
