AIR stations in Kerala bag 5 awards

The All India Radio (AIR) stations in Kerala have bagged five AIR National Awards for 2013.

Four of the awards were bagged by the AIR Thiruvananthapuram station and one by the Kannur station.

Best play

The award for the best play went to the Kannur station for the play ‘Vithakkunavente Upama,’ directed by K.V. Saratchandran.

In the Special Topic Documentary category, ‘e-jeevitham’ directed by Jose Ulhannan and Manesh M.P. bagged the first prize. The docu-drama ‘Radio elatethe oru nal,’ directed by Biju Mathew of Ananthapuri FM got the second prize.

Children’s section

In the children’s section, ‘Muthappankavele Appuppan’ directed by Leelamma Mathew and ‘Mookamarmarangal’ by S. Jaya got the merit certificate in the science category.

A press release issued here on Tuesday said the award-winning programmes would be broadcast by the AIR stations in Kerala between 7.35 p.m. and 10.35 p.m. on October 22.
