An intensive action plan has been formulated for disease prevention and control activities across the State.
A high-level meeting of Ministers, senior Health officials and officials of other related departments is being convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy here on Tuesday to ensure that all departments functioned in a coordinated manner for carrying out disease-prevention activities, Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar has said
The Minister was addressing a senior medical officers’ conference here on Monday.
The Minister directed that meetings be convened in all panchayats across the State in the next two weeks to chart out region-specific infectious diseases prevention and control programmes.
Ward-level meetings
All ward-level sanitation committees should meet before May 15 and review the activities in the presence of people’s representatives.
Areas which might require more intensive action programmes for disease prevention should be identified early and necessary steps taken, Mr. Sivakumar said.
The Epidemic Monitoring Cell would coordinate all control activities.
He said that complaints of the public should be settled every month in a regular manner and those requiring resolution at a higher level should be presented at the monthly senior medical officers’ conference.
National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) State Administrative Manager P.K. Harikrishnan had been appointed the nodal officer for health adalats.
Mr. Sivakumar told Health officials that extreme care and vigil should be taken in ensuring that the Attappady health package was implemented in a time-bound manner.
Health Principal Secretary Rajeev Sadanandan, Director of Health Services P.K. Jameela, NRHM State Mission Director M. Beena, senior Health officials, District Medical Officers, and NRHM District Programme Managers of all districts were present at the conference.
