Action against unregistered orphanages

Steps will be taken against orphanages which have not registered with the district social justice office, District Collector K.N. Satheesh has said. The decision was taken in a meeting on the condition of orphanages in the district at the Kudapanakunnu Civil Station here on Monday.

State Human Rights Commission Chief Investigation Officer S. Sreejith, who was present at the meeting, requested a pro-forma document detailing the performance of orphanages, basic infrastructure, and the staff. The need to categorise separately the details of those children who attend schools from orphanages was discussed at the meeting. There will be another meeting on January 27, a press release said.

City Police Commissioner P. Vijayan and Additional District Magistrate V. R. Vinod also attended the meeting.
