The rape of a nine-year-old girl came to light at Pangode on Sunday.
The Pangode police said the culprit was the girl’s stepfather. The child revealed all to her mother, who lodged a complaint with the police on Sunday, B. Jayan, sub-inspector, Pangode, said.
The police were likely to arrest the accused on Tuesday. A case was registered on Sunday and the victim’s statement recorded on Monday. The woman had taken some time to muster the courage to approach the police, the officer said.
Meanwhile, the police are yet to identify the two men who raped an eight-year-old girl, near Vallakadavu, on January 11. The girl was allegedly lured by two men near a lorry parking lot. She was then forcibly taken into a lorry and abused, Aji Chandran, Circle Inspector, Poonthura, who is investigating the case, said.
The child, was being counselled out of the trauma, Mr. Chandran said. A case was registered under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The indications from the statement of the child were that her violators were speaking a language other than Malayalam, probably Tamil. With a lot of outstation lorry drivers frequenting the spot, the police were now collecting details of vehicles that were seen in the area, apart from trying to prepare sketches of the accused.
