A mock parliament conducted as part of the ongoing summer camp for Student Police Cadets (SPC) at the Old Assembly Hall here on Monday was much like the real House.
The session, moderated by Law Secretary C.P. Ramaraja Prema Prasad and senior journalist M.G. Ramachandran in the presence of SPC State Nodal Officer P. Vijayan, saw Jisha Elizabeth presenting the bill on autonomy for colleges for debate.
It was after a fierce debate that the bill was finally passed.
Three students – Shivapriya, Mohammed Ijaz and Athulya – won prizes for the best parliamentarians.
Carmel Rose was the ‘Speaker’. Mohammed Ijaz stood up as Chief Minister while Anna Anu Vincent played the Leader of Opposition.
The State-level summer camp, which began at the Special Armed Police camp at Peroorkada here on March 12, has about 700 cadets, including 400 girls and 300 boys, apart from 200 officers, from 14 districts.
The camp will wind up on Tuesday.
Personality development workshops, visits to the Technopark, ISRO, Secretariat, Assembly complex, Science and Technology Museum, and newspaper offices, apart from parades, road walks, yoga, and kalaripayattu training sessions, have been part of the camp.
Magic shows, dramas, caricature sessions, poetry sessions, music concerts and a Jai Hind show, too, are part of the itinerary drawn out for the event.
