Curtain will go up on the District School Arts Festival here on Wednesday.
Minister for Tourism and Devaswom Kadakampally Surendran will inaugurate the four-day festival at Government Higher Secondary School for Girls, Cotton Hill, the main venue, at 4 p.m. Nearly 5,000 students are expected to take part in 213 events to be held across 14 venues in five schools.
For the first time at the festival, the sub-district that bags the maximum points will get the overall trophy.
Trophy handed over
The trophy was handed over to Deputy Director of Education M.K. Shinemon by the trophy committee members on Monday.
