968 arrested under Operation Suraksha

The fourth day of Operation Suraksha, a drive against goons and hired gang mafias in the State, saw 968 people being arrested, including 351 people in the Thiruvananthapuram Range alone.

An official statement from ADGP Arun Kumar Sinha, who is in charge of the operation, said the drive from Saturday night to Sunday morning saw 351 people arrested in the Thiruvananthapuram Range.

The Thiruvananthapuram City Police arrested 91 people while the Thiruvananthapuram Rural Police arrested 97 people wanted for various offences ranging from murder, assault, extortion, atrocities against women and children, and under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

After the operation was launched on February 24, 7,282 people had been arrested across the State, Mr. Sinha said.

The public could call up 1090 to lodge complaints against people involved in criminal activities, he added.
