The State Women’s Commission settled 89 cases in an adalat conducted at the District Panchayat Hall on Wednesday. Two hundred cases were taken up at the adalat.

The remaining were either referred for further inquiry or were set aside for the next adalat.

Chairperson of the Commission K.C Rosakutty said society should arrest the growing incidents of domestic violence and atrocities against women. The situation had reached a point where those responsible for protecting women were themselves becoming culprits, she said.

“Even mothers are becoming party to such crimes,” a Commission release said quoting her. Director of the Commission Jacob Job participated in the adalat.
